EVENTS IN MANCHESTER

every saturday at 11am the saturday club meets to do street theatre.. street art..and all sorts of fun and nonsense. we plan and do mini actions to raise awareness of the G8 and connecting issues. to get involved email: dosummat (at) shortcutz.org.uk see the saturday club website for more info by clicking here

GET CLUED UP

throughout this year and the last we have organised information events that enabled people to get clued up about issues connected to the G8.

These events included music and films as well as speakers and workshops in order to make them varied interesting and fun.

This series ended on Saturday 11th June with a Get clued up bout the G8 event that lasted the whole day looking at what the G8 is, the G8's agenda and criticisms of it including Africa, Climate Change and Terrorism.

The event was followed by the event: 'Dinner with Rob Newman' an anti G8 fundraiser that included a 3 course vegan meal and comedy performance.

DIRECT ACTION TRAINING

On Sunday 19th June at 1pm at The Basement, 24 Lever Street we facilitated a workshop in Direct Action. This training included information of what will be going on in scotland and also info and advice as well as practical skills in direct action..support..medical stuff
etc.

MEETING FOR ALL MANCUNIANS GOING TO PROTEST

On Monday 20th June at 6pm at The Basement we are holding a meeting for all those people in Manchester who want to come with us and stay in our Manchester Barrio. it's really important that all those who want to come with us attend this meeting:

1.so that we know who is comin
2.so you get to input into what will happen and how it will run
3.so you can be involved and meet everyone who's comin before we go

If you are planning to go up to scotland in your own transport then please still come to the meeting as we will welcome you to stay and participate in our Manchester Barrio, as not only will it be uber fun but it will also enable us all to build relationships with other mancunians sharing similar ideals...it means that we can share experiences and adventures so that we come back from the G8 stronger and together.

G8 CRITICAL MASS

On Friday 24th June at 6pm outside Manchester Central Library we shall meet for one of the most spectacular critical masses Manchester has seen. We will be joined by cyclists from all over the world who are cycling from Brighton to Edinburgh in a protest against the G8.

We took to the roads and celebrate the bicycle then all sorts of fun stuff followed including samba and food! whether you're on a bike, a skateboard, rollerskates or a space hopper..come to the next critical mass to celebrate fuel free transport.
